Defending the Honor of Our Lady

Defending the Honor of Our LadyOn Monday, April 22, The Testament of Mary by Colm Tóibín officially “opened” on Broadway, to defame the honor of Our Lady and cast doubt upon Our Lord’s Divinity. When theatergoers were warned that the play was blasphemous, they adroitly hid behind sophistic arguments such as; it’s only fiction, this is just artistic expression, or the catchall phrase, respect freedom of speech.

Fiction must have fictional characters not use the sacred person of Our Lady and Our Lord, and artistic expression and freedom of speech are not absolute rights! For the second time, the American Society for the Defense of Tradition, Family and Property (TFP) took to the streets of New York with their twenty-foot standards and marching band to defend the honor of Our Lady and Our Lord who are attacked in this blasphemous play. They were joined by a group of 300 additional protesters in front of the Walter Kerr Theatre on 48th Street, New York City, which created noticeable presence upon the theater management and those that went in to view the blasphemy.
