“[We’ve] got to get them back in blood!” That’s what a pro-abortion student said after TFP Student Action volunteer Kevin Roman was injured while peacefully praying for the unborn at George Mason University.
“He ripped my megaphone away and injured my thumb,” said Roman, 20, who was praying the rosary on campus with a team of TFP volunteers on October 24, 2022. Although his thumb was bruised and oozing blood, Kevin did not give up. He and his 12 colleagues stood their ground against about 200 pro-abortion students who tried to shut down their peaceful rally for the unborn. As the pro-abortion mob resorted to swearing, spitting, theft, and physical assault, the outnumbered pro-life group refused to be bullied into silence.
Reactions on Campus
TFP volunteers displayed a banner that read, “Pray and act against the sin of abortion.” They also cried out a variety of slogans:
– “Margaret Sanger and Roe v. Wade are both six feet beneath the grave.”
– “Eagle eggs are protected, yet unborn babies are rejected: Why the double standard?”
– “Smile! You survived abortion.”
One astonished student kept repeating, “No way!” as he met TFP volunteers. “I never expected to see you on my campus,” he said. “I watch all your videos.”

TFP volunteers handed out “10 Reasons to Protect the Unborn” leaflets.
TFP: “Would you like a flyer with ten reasons against abortion?”

Another leftist said TFP volunteers should not have free speech rights. “I hate you,” she yelled. “I am not part of the tolerant Left. I am part of the intolerant Left.”
The Woke Spit, Scream, and Rant
The relatively calm atmosphere was shattered when a small but boisterous group of pro-aborts formed in front of TFP volunteers. They made an assortment of cacophonous sounds with a trumpet and guitars as they pranced around, insulting anyone who opposed abortion. Eventually, more pro-aborts gathered, forming a mob of about 200. They screamed, “My body, my choice.”
One abortion advocate yelled, “I want to kill all babies.” At least two individuals spat at TFP volunteers, and others shredded TFP flyers and littered the sidewalk. One individual ate a TFP flyer, ripping pieces off and stuffing them into his mouth.
Since the mob refused to engage in intellectual conversation, TFP members decided to pray the Joyful Mysteries of the Holy Rosary. Like an exorcism, the prayer angered the pro-abortion students who screamed loud insults, interspersing them with vile blasphemies against God.
Feminists chalked abortion slogans on the sidewalk with red chalk. After their scribbling, their hands were stained red. “This symbolizes the blood that is on your hands,” they screamed mockingly. But TFP member John Wagner retorted, “If anything, it represents the blood on pro-abortion hands that promote the murder of innocent babies.”

Another pro-abortion man blew cigarette smoke into TFP member John’s face. But a friendly student approached, saying: “I am here in case a fight breaks out so I can help you.”
Assault and Thief
During the rosary, pro-aborts bumped and poked TFP members, whispering taunts and lewd insults into their ears.
A burly leftist shouted inches away from Kevin Roman’s face.
“Back off,” Kevin said. “Don’t touch me.”
Pro-abort: “Do you want to go [fight]? I will beat you, little man!”
After praying the rosary under constant harassment, TFP members prepared to leave. That’s when the burly man ripped the megaphone out of Kevin Roman’s hand. The pro-abortion attacker twisted Kevin’s hand, injured his thumb, and tore his jacket and pants. Although the pro-abortion thief ran off with the megaphone, several TFP volunteers chased after him and retrieved the stolen item.
After TFP volunteers retrieved the stolen megaphone, a man from the mob screamed, “[We’ve] got to get them back in blood!”
The brazen aggressor came back and bragged about his theft.
During the chaos, several students joined the pro-life campaign and stayed with the TFP volunteers until the end, offering assistance.
Although surrounded by the mob, TFP members formed two lines and calmly marched off, singing God Bless America accompanied by the bagpipes. The mob desperately tried to block their exit, but the gallant TFP members cleared a path through the hoard. A group of hecklers surrounded TFP cameraman John Wagner who leaped over a bench to extricate himself from the dangerous situation.

As the impromptu procession of TFP volunteers reached the parking lot, two police cruisers arrived, and the cowardly mob quickly dispersed.
The police found the perpetrator of the attack against Kevin Roman, and an ambulance arrived to treat his injured hand. A police report—case number 22.008487—was filed. Kevin now has legal options to explore if he decides to take the pro-abortion attacker to court.
