Saint Louis de Montfort, was a French priest ordained at the turn of the eighteenth century. His heroic zeal in preaching, writing and singing about Mary gave Pope Pius XII ample reason to canonize him in 1917. He wrote many works that expressed his love of God and the Blessed Virgin. The books, Secret of Mary, Secret of the Rosary, and The Letter to the Friends of the Cross are his most notable contributions to the Church. Possessing a poetic talent, he also composed a ballad called “We Want God” to externalize Catholic enthusiasm for God and the Virgin Mary.

His magnificent two-part treatise is laid out in fifteen chapters, making a grand total of one-hundred and forty pages. He expounds upon the “fundamental truths” of devotion to Our Lady (see chapter two), explains the proper interior and exterior practices of true devotion (see chapter five) and the motives you should have in making your consecration to Mary (see Chapter seven). This edition includes the prayers that prepare you in a beautiful, straightforward way for making your consecration to Mary. His clear logic will make your mind tranquil in accepting Our Lord’s Mother as your own. He backs up his inspiring words about Our Lady with many quotes from the saints, including Saints Bonaventure, John Damascene, Anselm, Bernard, Ambrose, Gregory, Augustine, and Bernadine. His overall purpose is to make your soul burn with new vigor to know, love and serve God through the Virgin Mary.
