Growing Islamization is polarizing the Netherlands. For this reason, the Civitas Christiana Foundation (see box) has just launched in the ancient land of the Batavians the book Islam and the Suicide of the West: The Origin, Doctrine, and Goals of Islam (Islam en de zelfmoord van het Westen: Oorsprong, doctrines, en doelen van de Islam), by Luiz Sérgio Solimeo.1

The Dutch organization’s directors decided to publish the book in light of the rapid and seemingly inexorable Islamization of Europe and the Netherlands. The book should be read by any Christian who wants to know about Islam, what Islam teaches about Christians and the reasons why “dialogue” is not just futile but dangerous.

Timeliness of the Launching

The book’s launching is especially timely as a means to dispel the fallacy that there are common points of doctrine between Islam and Christianity that can serve as the basis for dialogue.

Many myths about Islam are based on a faulty knowledge of its doctrines and beliefs. Mr. Solimeo provides a concise explanation, quoting from the Koran and Islamic authors. He also focuses on the history of Islam and its internal contradictions.

Eternal and Natural Law: The Foundation of Morals and Law

In an interview on the occasion of the book’s release in the United States, Mr. Solimeo explained the Koran’s anti-Trinitarian doctrine, which shows the complete incompatibility between Islam and Christianity.

Denial of the Holy Trinity

“If anything is clear in the confused Koran,” the author points out, “it is its anti-Trinitarian stance: it is a book that attacks the Christian dogma of the Holy Trinity.”

“In fact,” he continues, “the Koran denies God as One and Triune, that is, a God with three distinct persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Islam falsely claims belief in the Holy Trinity is polytheism.”

According to the Koran, polytheism and idolatry are the gravest sins, for which there is no forgiveness. This explains the permanent struggle against those who Islam accuses of being polytheists and worshipers of gods other than Allah.

Religious Motivation of Islamic Terrorism

“This denial of the Holy Trinity is not a purely academic matter,” Mr. Solimeo points out. “Its practical consequences are reflected in their history of persecution of Christianity and Islamic terrorism today.”

He concludes: “Indeed, the radicalism of ISIS and other Islamic terrorist movements are not the result of spurious deviations, but originated from the book considered sacred by all Muslims, radical and moderate.”

Islam and the Suicide of the West highlights many other reasons why “dialogue” with Islam is impossible. These obstacles include the refusal of Muslims to assimilate into mainstream society, the nature of Sharia (Islamic law) and the totalitarian character of Islamic teaching. Unfortunately, the Church has failed to realize the dangers involved in pursuing “dialogue” in the name of false ecumenism.

The author of the book, Luiz Sérgio Solimeo, is a scholar, researcher and educator who has written numerous books, articles and essays on the effects of religion on culture. The learned author, a native of Brazil, teaches philosophy and history at the Sedes Sapientiae Institute, run by the American Society for the Defense of Tradition, Family and Property (TFP).

Civitas Christiana

Civitas Christiana is an autonomous sister organization of the American Society for the Defense of Tradition, Family and Property (TFP). Its web page states:

Civitas Christiana fights for the victory of Christian traditions, the family and the freedom of the Netherlands. These values are threatened by encroaching multiculturalism, gender ideology and the culture of death.

Civitas Christiana restores the Netherlands by returning to its Christian roots. It achieves this by uniting people who share this ideal through modern means of communication and organizing meetings and protests. It also spreads the truth by doing research, writing and promoting its publications. […]

Civitas Christiana Foundation was established in 2014 to stop the further erosion of Dutch culture and traditions. We understand Dutch culture in the context of Christian civilization, as it took shape in Europe over the centuries. We see tradition, family and private property as fundamental principles of European culture.

Why is it important to defend tradition, family and the right to private property? While the choice of these values may seem random, they are actually the three pillars that support any healthy civilization and especially Christian civilization. Abolish any one and the other two will wither and die. These values are rooted in both natural law and Divine Revelation. Today they are under attack as never before.
The destruction of tradition, the family, and private property is the goal of all totalitarian movements of the modern era, especially socialism, national socialism (Nazism), fascism and communism. These movements are natural enemies of Christian civilization.
