Fighting against abortion can be contentious. But opposing abortion in New York City is extremely controversial.

As part of a pro-life caravan, TFP Student Action volunteers held three pro-family campaigns in New York City on October 27, 2022. They visited three iconic locations: The World Trade Center, the New York City Public Library, and St. Patrick’s Cathedral.

Abortion is a daily 9/11

Almost 3,000 people died on September 11, 2001 when 19 terrorists flew three planes into the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and a field in Pennsylvania. This day is engraved in every American soul, but especially New Yorkers. They will never forget the tragedy.

Every day, almost 4,000 babies are killed through abortion. Thus it is correct to say that abortion is numerically on par with the loss of innocent life that occurred on 9/11.

To highlight this tragic fact, fifteen TFP volunteers held a campaign near Ground Zero. This caused much emotion among both pro-lifers and pro-aborts, especially as the TFP volunteers held signs that read, “Abortion a daily 9/11.” Pro-lifers agreed but pro-aborts went so far as to spit on it. Responses were vastly different.

“That sign says the brutal truth.”
“That is a really good sign.”
“That sign is disgusting.”
“I find that sign really offensive.”

“You are what makes America great.”

Many New Yorkers were extremely happy to see TFP volunteers defending innocent life. Some recognized TFP Student Action from its YouTube videos. “It takes a lot of courage to do what you do,” said one businessman. “I watch your videos and sign your petitions. Thank you for what you do.”

A Chicago native was so happy with the campaign that she visibly cried with joy and thanked the volunteers effusively for their work.

Another lady from Cordoba, Spain, was so excitedly with the TFP event on Fifth Avenue that she assisted TFP volunteers as they debated with pro-abortion leftists on the street.

After a leftist woman tried to steal a stack of “10 Reasons to Protect the Unborn” flyers from Matthew Shibler, the friendly Spaniard flew into action, rebuking the aggressor who soon fled. Before leaving, this true lady told TFP volunteers: “You are what makes America great.”

Other supporters walking by said:
“Just as Christ walked the earth, you walk and fight the good fight. Keep it up.”
“We are very happy you are fighting this battle.”
“Thank you for being pro-life in New York. It is a tough town.”
“You are doing God’s Work.”

Is Violence an Argument?

The amount of spitting was incredible. Volunteers Nathan Kinley and Gregory Murphy were both spit multiple times. One woman stole a stack of pro-life flyers and others physically hit TFP volunteers or splashed drinks on them.

Even in the midst of all the violence, a pro-life man commented on the demeanor of the TFP volunteers. “Wow! Tough crowd. I like that you smile all the way through.”

Woman Converts Because of Leftist Aggressiveness

One woman approached TFP volunteer Gregory Murphy. She explained that she did not consider abortion to be murder and thought it should be allowed in some cases.

But in the middle of their conversation, a rabid leftist burst in and tried to steal Mr. Murphy’s flyers. The feminist managed to take one flyer and rip it up in Mr. Murphy’s face as she screamed vulgar insults.

The incident shocked the woman who Mr. Murphy had been civilly talking to so much that she turned to him and said, “Yes, abortion is murder. Thank you for the conversation.”

Barking Like a Dog

A middle-aged man with long hair and black fingernails approached. He had a small dog on a leash. With a cynical smile on his lips, he took pictures of the TFP volunteers, while his small dog yapped. Then to everyone’s surprise, the man started barking at TFP volunteers. “Is barking your only argument?” asked a TFP member. “Yup,” he answered. “That’s all I got.”

A biology denier offered this: “By the way, men can get pregnant. I bet that’s not something you hear every day.”

“Pro-Lifers Are Anti-Woman and Racist”—Really?

Several scenes were humorous. Commonly, pro-abortion men accuse TFP volunteers of being anti-woman. On more than one occasion when that happened, a pro-life lady come out of the crowd, and with perfect timing confronted the pro-abort. Here’s one exchange:

Pro-abort man: “You [TFP] are all men. You don’t’ have a say.”
Pro-life lady: “I am pro-life.”
Pro-abort man: “I am not talking to you!”

Some pro-abortion advocates artificially used the race card. The response was easy because the black community is really harmed by abortion. In New York City, over 50% of black pregnancies end in abortion. Moreover, Margaret Sanger, the founder of Planned Parenthood, is on record for wanting to exterminate African race through abortion.

Can Abortion Be Defeated?

The fight against abortion continues in a post-Roe America. It may seem that abortion and its Culture of Death is a monolith that will never be defeated. But that is not the case.

Science Confirms: Angels Took the House of Our Lady of Nazareth to Loreto

The overturning of Roe v. Wade and the reaction of pro-life New Yorkers is proof that the pro-life movement can win, especially if more souls step up and storm Heaven for God’s grace. The TFP caravan demonstrates how fragile the “pro-choice” consensus really is, even in one of the Left’s most prized strongholds: New York City.

Therefore, pro-life crusaders should move forward with supernatural confidence in God’s final victory, and continue to fight for right to life.

“[H]ave confidence, I have overcome the world” (John 16:33).
